Ministry of Defense and LOM Prague s.p. concluded a contract for the modernization of Mi-171 helicopters.

On Tuesday, December 8, 2020, a contract was signed for the modernization of 15 Mi-171Š transport helicopters by Deputy Minister of Defense for the Management of the Armaments and Acquisitions Section Lubor Koudelka and Commercial Director of the state enterprise LOM Praha Radomír Daňhel.

In addition, the avionics system of 8 helicopters will be completely upgraded, including new means of communication, navigation systems and multifunction displays for both pilots. Lightweight ballistic protection will also be installed on 3 helicopters to reduce their weight, and a MEDEVAC kit will be added to one helicopter, enabling air transport of the wounded with medical equipment and medical escort.

The final price of 1.2 billion CZK excluding VAT also includes the creation of a prototype helicopter, on which the harmonization of all the above-mentioned modernization elements will be tested.
